Bi Empire

Description

His name was Wei Zheng. (魏争) Crown Prince of the state of Bi. (比)  For centuries, the numerous kingdoms and duchies of the plains of Heiyoks battled and clashed for dominance over the continent.  Reviled, ignored, ridiculed, the Duchy of Bi remained the unappreciated defender of the southern states against the Giants, Ogres, and other disgusting demons that ranged throughout the north.  But Bi waited. They trained. They fought, and they grew stronger.  Allying and assimilating the Frost Elves into their empire, they soon created a powerful military and beauracratic corps that laid the foundations for the rise of Wei Zheng.

He was also known as the throneless Lord.  When his father, Wei Yang (魏杨) collapsed on his deathbed, his final death rattle to the mourning 20 year old Crown Prince was: "Do you swear to claim all above earth- for the glory of Bi?" Wei Zheng seemed shaken.  A month later at his investiture, after taking his crown, he drew his sword, and to the astonishment of onlookers cut his throne into pieces; swearing that he would never sit as a ruler until all of Hieyoks was his.  With his advisor, the wily Frost Elf Bai Zhan (白站) as Prime Minister, and Bai Zhan's daughter Bai Lianqi (白练气) as his consort, the ambitious King launched a 24 year campaign of conquest and destruction that forced all the other terrified states to band against the rising might of Bi.  But at the critical battle of Duan Mountain, the forces of Bi crushed the combined armies of the other states, with a death toll of some 450,000 men on the allied side, and 150,000 men of Bi.

It seemed that nothing could stop Wei Zheng, except for a crossbow bolt that struck him down during a seige at a minor castle.  But the bolt that pierced him went clean through- and was never found.  And the injuries in his armor and body seemed odd- was he struck by the enemy as he lead the charge at the walls? Or had he in fact, been slain by one of his own men, weary of the never ending war?  It was never revealed.  But his death did not stop Bi's inexorable triumph.  His son, Wei Qi (魏其) would finish the conquest, and rule over Eastern Hieyoks as more than a king, almost a god. But Wei Qi would not rule as First Emperor.  No, he would take the title of the (比皇帝) Bi Xiao Huang Di; the Filial Emperor.  It would be his father who would go down in the history of Aiers as (比光武高祖帝) Bi Guangwu Gaozu Di- The Brilliantly Martial High Ancestor.

And no longer would Bi be the name of a single state.  The Dynasty would rule for 150 years and 7 Emperors; their Dynastic name now with another meaning- Da Bi Di Shang 大比地上- The Great Superior Empire- from which the name of Bina would be born!

My submission for :iconshabazik:'s contest for Hieyoks.  I wanted to explore the ancient history of Bina a bit :3.

Was going to ink and possibly attempt to color, but no time :(.

I know it's a more legit Chinese name, but I think it might attract some people who thinks that this is an empire full of bi******s...

Ahem, I'm sorry.
